Day 1: Arrive and Settle In
Evening
Check in and walk the nearest square. After checking in, take a short walk through the nearest square. The evening light on the squares is beautiful, and a quiet walk is the perfect way to arrive in Savannah.
Dinner at The Olde Pink House. One of Savannah's most celebrated restaurants in a stunning 1771 mansion on Reynolds Square. Make a reservation well in advance.
After dinner: Walk to Forsyth Park to see the fountain illuminated after dark. The park is beautiful at night and usually quiet after 9 PM.
Day 2: The Historic District in Full
Morning
7:00 AM — Forsyth Park at golden hour. The fountain in the early morning light is one of the most beautiful sights in Savannah. Walk the perimeter path, explore the Fragrant Garden, and take your time.
8:30 AM — Breakfast at Clary's Cafe. A Savannah institution on Abercorn Street. Classic American breakfast, good coffee.
10:00 AM — Walk the squares. Spend the morning exploring Savannah's famous squares. Start at Chippewa Square, then work through Madison Square, Monterey Square, and Calhoun Square.
11:30 AM — Mercer Williams House. The guided tour is one of the best in Savannah. The architecture is stunning and the history is fascinating.
Afternoon
1:00 PM — Lunch at Zunzi's. The legendary South African-inspired takeout spot on York Street. The Conquistador sandwich is one of the best things you will eat in Savannah.
2:30 PM — Bonaventure Cemetery. Take a rideshare to Bonaventure Cemetery (about 15 minutes). Spend 60–90 minutes wandering the grounds. The Victorian monuments, the ancient oaks, and the river views are extraordinary.
4:30 PM — Return to hotel, freshen up.
Evening
6:30 PM — Dinner at The Grey. Savannah's most acclaimed restaurant — James Beard Award-winning cuisine in a stunning 1938 bus terminal. Book weeks in advance.
8:30 PM — Ghost tour. Book an evening ghost tour through the Historic District. One of the best ways to experience Savannah after dark.
Day 3: Tybee Island
Morning
8:00 AM — Early start for Tybee Island. Drive or rideshare to Tybee Island (30 minutes). Arrive early to beat the crowds and secure parking.
9:00 AM — Climb the Tybee Island Lighthouse. The 154-foot lighthouse offers panoramic views of the Georgia coast. Climb the 178 steps for the view, then explore the grounds.
10:30 AM — Beach time. Spend the late morning at the beach. North Beach (near the lighthouse) is quieter and better for families; South Beach is livelier.
Afternoon
12:30 PM — Lunch at The Crab Shack. A Tybee Island institution — a sprawling outdoor seafood restaurant on Chimney Creek. The Low Country Boil is a must.
2:00 PM — More beach or kayaking. If you want more beach time, stay. If you want something different, rent a kayak and explore the salt marshes.
4:00 PM — Return to Savannah.
Evening
6:30 PM — Dinner at The Collins Quarter. One of Savannah's best restaurants for a more casual but still excellent meal.
8:00 PM — Explore the Starland District. Walk south of Forsyth Park into the Starland District for a different side of Savannah — independent coffee shops, galleries, and a more local atmosphere.
9:00 PM — Nightcap at Artillery. One of Savannah's best craft cocktail bars on Bull Street. The cocktail menu changes seasonally and the bartenders know what they are doing.
Day 4: Final Morning and Departure
Morning
8:00 AM — Brunch at Back in the Day Bakery. On Bull Street, this beloved bakery is famous for its biscuits and the "Big Daddy Biscuit." A perfect final Savannah meal.
9:30 AM — Final walk through the squares. The ones you did not get to earlier — Troup Square, Columbia Square, Lafayette Square — are worth a look.
11:00 AM — Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. If you have not visited yet, stop at the Cathedral on Lafayette Square. The stained glass windows are stunning.
12:00 PM — Depart.
Practical Notes
Getting around: The Historic District is walkable. Use rideshares for Bonaventure Cemetery and Tybee Island.
Reservations: Book The Olde Pink House, The Grey, and ghost tours before you arrive.
Shoes: Wear comfortable shoes. Savannah's cobblestones are beautiful but uneven.
The pace: This itinerary is full but not rushed. If something is not working, drop it. Savannah rewards slow travel.
