Savannah Coupons and Travel Deals: How to Save on Your Trip

Savannah has a reputation as a luxury destination — and it can be expensive if you are not careful. But the city is also genuinely accessible on a budget. With the right strategies, you can experience the best of Savannah without spending a fortune.

Here are the best ways to save on your Savannah trip.

Start with Hotel Savings

Hotel is typically the biggest expense of a Savannah trip. Here is how to get the best rate.

Compare rates on Expedia. Expedia aggregates rates from multiple sources and often has deals not available on hotel websites directly. Compare rates for your dates before you book.

Travel in the off-season. January, February, and the summer months (June–August) offer the lowest hotel rates. Summer is hot, but the savings can be significant — sometimes 30–50% lower than peak season rates.

Book weeknights. Weeknight rates (Tuesday–Thursday) are typically 20–40% lower than weekend rates at the same property. If your schedule is flexible, a midweek trip saves money.

Look for hotels with free parking. Parking in the Historic District costs $20–$45 per night at most hotels. A hotel with free parking saves $60–$135 over a three-night stay. Read our parking guide →

Look for hotels with included breakfast. Several Savannah hotels include breakfast in the rate. A free breakfast saves $15–$25 per person per day.

Book early for peak season. Spring and fall are peak season in Savannah. Booking early (3–6 months ahead) gives you access to better rates before prices rise.

Free Things to Do in Savannah

Many of Savannah's best experiences are completely free.

The squares. All 22 public squares are free to visit. A self-guided walk through the squares is one of the best things you can do in Savannah.

Forsyth Park. The 30-acre park with the famous fountain is free. The Saturday farmers market (April–December) is also free to browse.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Free to visit during daylight hours. The interior is stunning.

River Street. Free to walk and explore. The shops and restaurants cost money, but the waterfront itself is free.

The Waving Girl Statue and Morrell Park. A quiet, beautiful spot along the riverfront that most tourists miss.

Attraction Discounts

Telfair Museums combination ticket. A single ticket covers all three Telfair Museums venues (Telfair Academy, Owens-Thomas House, Jepson Center). Buying the combination ticket saves money over purchasing individual tickets.

Senior discounts. Many Savannah attractions offer senior discounts. Ask when you purchase tickets.

Student discounts. Several museums and attractions offer student discounts with a valid student ID.

AAA discounts. AAA members receive discounts at many Savannah hotels and attractions. Check the AAA website for current offers.

Military discounts. Many Savannah attractions offer discounts for active military and veterans. Ask when you purchase tickets.

City of Savannah attractions. Some City of Savannah attractions (including certain parks and historic sites) are free or low-cost.

Dining Savings

Eat lunch instead of dinner at the best restaurants. Many of Savannah's top restaurants offer lunch menus at significantly lower prices than dinner. The food is the same quality — you just save money by going at midday.

Happy hour. Most Savannah bars and many restaurants offer happy hour specials (typically 4–7 PM). Cocktails that cost $14 at dinner cost $8 during happy hour.

Zunzi's. One of the best meals in Savannah — the Conquistador sandwich — costs under $15. It is a local institution and genuinely excellent.

Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room. The legendary family-style Southern cooking at Mrs. Wilkes' is remarkably affordable for the quality. Lunch only, Monday–Friday.

The Forsyth Park Café. Casual, affordable, and in a beautiful setting.

Grocery stores and markets. The Forsyth Park farmers market (Saturday mornings, April–December) is a great place to assemble a picnic at low cost.

Transportation Savings

Walk everywhere. The Historic District is compact and walkable. Staying in the district means you can explore on foot without spending money on rideshares or parking.

The free DOT Shuttle. The City of Savannah operates a free shuttle (the Downtown Connector) that runs through the Historic District. Use it to get around without walking or paying for rideshares.

Arrive without a car. If you are coming from Atlanta, Charleston, or another nearby city, arriving by train or bus eliminates parking costs entirely. Read our guide to visiting Savannah without a car →

Tour Discounts

Book tours in advance online. Many Savannah tour operators offer discounts for advance online bookings versus walk-up prices.

Group discounts. Ghost tours, trolley tours, and riverboat cruises often offer group discounts for parties of 6 or more. Ask when you book.

Combination packages. Some operators offer combination packages (e.g., trolley tour + ghost tour) at a discount versus booking separately.
